OTITIS MEDIA-H.INFLUENZAE, M. CATARRHALIS
Child: Based on amoxicillin dose: 125-250 mg every 8 hr. Child weighing <40 kg, 20-40 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hr. Infant <3 mth: up to 30 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hr.

Adult: Based on amoxicillin dose: 3 g as a single dose with 1 g of oral probenecid.

PROPHYLAXIS OF ENDOCARDITIS
Adult: Based on amoxicillin dose: 2 or 3 g as a single dose. To be taken 1 hr before the dental procedure.

H.PYLORI INFECTION
Adult: 0.75-1 g bid or 500 mg tid. To be taken with metronidazole or claithromycin and a PPI or ranitidine bismuth citrate
 
Parenteral
INFECTIONS CAUSED BY BETA-LACTAMSE PRODUCING STRAINS OF ORGANISMS INDICATED
Adult: Based on amoxicillin dose: 500 mg every 8 hr. In severe infections, may increase to 1 g every 6 hr. Can be given via IM inj or slow IV inj over 3-4 min or IV infusion over 30-60 min.
 
Parenteral
INFECTIONS CAUSED BY BETA-LACTAMSE PRODUCING STRAINS OF ORGANISMS INDICATED
Child: up to 10 yr: 50-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
   
Precautions History of allergy esp to cephalosporins, infectious mononucleosis, severe renal impairment.
   
Potentially Life-threatening 
Adverse Drug Reactions

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion, rash and urticaria, candida superinfection.

   
Adverse Drug Reactions Anaphylactic reaction with CV collapse esp with parenteral use.
   
Interactions Allopurinol may increase incidence of rash. Absorption of OC may be reduced if diarrhoea occurs with oral use of this combination.
